Two SDF teams respond to cliff collapse in San Diego

At 10:30 am on April 14, two SDF-trained San Diego area search teams, Aide Barbat & Delta and Mike Brice & Blake, were called to the beach in Torrey Pines State Park where a small portion of the cliff had fallen onto the beach.

Unfortunately, this area is popular with runners and beachgoers, despite this not being the first time rocks and sand had collapsed. The San Diego County Sheriff’s Department was on scene with human remains detection dogs and requested our teams to conduct the live find searches.

Both Delta and Blake covered the small area and did not show any interest or alert. Shortly after, the human remains dogs followed up and also did not alert, which means that, thankfully, no one was trapped beneath the pile of sand.

This marks the first deployment for Mike and Blake, and both dogs searched very efficiently, making us all proud.
