SDF’s Baja California Search Teams respond to cave collapse in Tijuana

On March 25, Baja California Task Force 3 Search Teams Luis Garcia & Maxim and Fidel Gomez & Rosie responded the report of a small landslide in Tijuana. A homeless person had reportedly been living in a makeshift dirt cave that collapsed after rain soaked the area.

The canine teams arrived and began searching within 20 minutes of the initial call, but neither dog indicated any live human scent beneath the mud. Sadly, after using equipment to move the mud, the body of the deceased person was found.

Though the outcome of this incident is not what anyone had hoped, we are grateful to the teams that responded to ensure no one was left behind.
