Our very own SDF staff member, Mandy Tisdale, deployed with her search dog, Paul, to an abandoned commercial building fire in Oxnard on July 15, 2022.
Upon arriving on the scene, firefighters rescued a homeless man from the roof of the building. Unsure if additional people had been inside when the fire broke out, Human Remains Detection teams, including Mandy & Paul, responded to search the area. SDF handler Eric Darling also joined the search with teammates, canines Wyatt and Mazie.
Mandy reported that when it came time to search the debris, Paulie knew exactly what he needed to do and did his job beautifully. The dogs cleared the area ahead of recovery workers and determined that, thankfully, no lives were lost.
This is Mandy and Paul’s second deployment as a certified HRD team.
