It’s not a matter of if, but when the next natural or man-made disaster will occur. To stay prepared, Canine Disaster Search Teams must constantly hone their skills through rigorous training exercises – and what better place to do that than SDF’s National Training Center, specifically designed for Disaster Search Dogs and their Handlers.
Most recently, California Task Force 5 members Christine Mackenzie & Delphi, Susan Vodrazka & Derby and SDF Team Doug Van Iwaarden & Sadie traveled from their home base of Orange County to visit our National Training Center for a day of training on Saturday, April 14, 2018.
The NTC is open to any and all teams from across the U.S. and the world who want to train for disaster response. Designed with training props that can evolve and change, our NTC allows our Trainers and teams to create different search situations that mimic various disaster situations.
As we head into tornado and hurricane season, our campus offers a crucial resource for First Responders. Thank you to CA-TF5 for utilizing the campus to its full potential and for being Part of the Search!
