Mila was a rock star in training since the very beginning! She arrived, tail wagging, ready to play! This young black Labrador mix was able to focus her youthful enthusiasm into drive, dedication and success in her search and rescue training and was always excited to work with her trainers. Mila has a beautiful even keeled temperament but with a flare and intensity to search which made her a delight in training. In just six months she went from wild pup to search and rescue canine, partnered with Tyler Green, a Firefighter/Paramedic with Orange County Fire Authority with California Task Force 5 (CA-TF5). Mila is Tyler’s first search dog after he was selected by his task force and SDF to become a handler candidate back in April 2018. Tyler has been traveling to the NTC to work with our staff and canines since last November in preparation for the moment he received Mila’s leash. We will miss Mila’s puppy energy every day and Tyler’s jokes throughout training, but the pair will be back frequently to the NTC to train for their FEMA Certification! Since Mila progressed through the SDF training program very quickly, we expect Mila and Tyler will soon pass their FSA and certifications with flying colors!
