On Monday, August 5, newly partnered Search Teams Luis Garcia & Montecito and Fidel Gomez & Gemma were dispatched to a missing at-risk person search in an area called Mesa de Otay near Tijuana, Mexico. Luis and Monte were the first to arrive at the scene and performed a perimeter search of the area looking for the victim, who was known to suffer from diabetes.
After covering approximately six square blocks, Monte did not alert, letting Luis know that he did not detect live human scent in the search area. A few hours later, the search was suspended when the suspect was located in a local restaurant.
Luis was so proud of the way Monte worked, especially given this was their very first official search since being partnered.
