LA-based Search Teams respond to two deployments in one day

On July 16, 2019, SDF-trained search teams with Los Angeles County Fire Department deployed to two back-to-back calls for help in the LA area:

The roof over the lobby of the Lady Luck Casino in Gardena, CA collapsed in the late morning. It was known that there were people inside at the time so Ryan Greenup & Koda and Manny Sampang & Eva responded to the collapse after several injuries were reported and were able to confirm that no one was still trapped inside.

The teams finished up searching the casino collapse and Manny & Eva were then called out that evening to Diamond Bar, CA, where two vehicles collided on the freeway and went down a steep embankment. Injured drivers had been located but Eva was utilized to ensure that no passengers had been thrown from the vehicles. Manny shared that this deployment was a valuable training experience because they don’t train often get to train at night. Thankfully, there were no passengers for them to find and the vehicle drivers, though critically injured, survived.
