Rose came to us from Utah, where she’d been raised as a family pet for most of her life. She had always been energetic, but as she matured her energy levels only continued to rise, making it difficult for her owners to dedicate the necessary time to her training and care. Between Rose, their other dog, and raising children, her owners began to feel that they had too much on their plate and decided it would be in Rose’s best interest to find her a more suitable placement. They didn’t want to surrender her to a shelter, so they placed an ad in a local paper in the hopes of finding an adopter who would be able to provide her with a great home and an outlet for her boundless energy. An SDF canine recruiter noticed the ad and quickly reached out to schedule a meet and greet with Rose and her family, who agreed to turn over Rose’s care to SDF.
Here, she stole the hearts of our staff with her sweet personality, and while she enjoyed engaging with trainers, she wasn’t nearly as taken with the actual training. She quickly declared that disaster search training wasn’t for her, and began her hunt for an active companion home where she could thrive. Upon learning that Rose was available for adoption through our Canine Placement Program, SDF Canine Training Assistant Brenna reached out to her parents, who she (correctly) suspected would be equally charmed by this sweet girl.
Upon meeting Rose, her soon-to-be adopters knew she would make a great addition to their family, and Rose wholeheartedly agreed. She happily headed to her new home, where she now gets to enjoy being spoiled by her adoring parents and playing with her dog siblings, Dari and Molly, every day! Her family reports that Rose is doing great, and in addition to all her other great qualities, she gives the best hugs to everyone she meets! We’re so happy for this wonderful girl and her new family, and can’t wait for all of the future updates to come!
