On Sunday, August 4, several FEMA task forces deployed ahead of Tropical Storm Debby making landfall in the United States, including Virginia Task Force 2 (VA-TF2) SDF-trained team Jeremy DeMott & Chirp. Jeremy and Chirp were positioned in South Carolina with VA-TF2, ready to assist communities as the storm passed through the state.
As Debby approached land, it grew into a Category 1 hurricane and brought with it heavy rainfall and flooding in areas of the Southeastern United States, prompting rescue crews to assist residents in the affected region in its wake. VA-TF2 assisted in water operations in South Carolina before returning home after a nearly week-long deployment.
