Leadership in Board Governance and Creative & Sustainable Philanthropy
Joined the SDF Board of Directors in April 2020
Having earned an undergraduate degree in Biology and a Master’s of Public Health, Crystal’s professional life has included work in the field of industrial hygiene (air quality studies) and clinical research. She is most passionate about non-profit organizations that serve the public good – especially those engaged with health, animals, and nature. For the past six years, she has been a board member of the Santa Barbara Zoo, serving as Board Chair in 2018 and 2019. Crystal also served for seven years as a board member at Lotusland, a world-renowned estate botanic garden in Montecito, CA, and was Vice President for three of those years. She has been intimately involved with multiple fundraising campaigns and board governance at both organizations and currently spends much of her time participating in philanthropy. In addition to raising two children with her husband, Clifford, Crystal serves on numerous other committees in the Santa Barbara area and enjoys gardening, cooking, artisanal bread baking, winemaking, and spending time with her dogs Carmen (Rottweiler) and Brix (Rhodesian Ridgeback puppy).
