Happy Tails – Remi is living his most adventurous life, and loving it!

Remi came to us from the City of Stockton Animal Services Center after they noticed that in addition to his high energy levels, he seemed to really love his toys! An SDF recruiter was on her way to the NTC when she received the call from the shelter about Remi, so she stopped by the shelter, assessed Remi, loaded her new passenger into her van, and continued on to SDF!

Though new recruits are typically evaluated before they leave the shelter—as Remi was—there’s no guarantee that a dog will demonstrate all the same behaviors that they did in a shelter setting once they enter a new environment. After Remi arrived at the NTC, he was evaluated again, but this time with very different results than his initial assessment! With so many new sights and scents to explore, he was no longer interested in toys or engaging with trainers. We knew then that disaster search was not the path for him, and decided instead to focus on finding him a great home where he would thrive!

Soon after, Remi went to stay with a potential adopter so they could get to know each other, and just one week into the two-week adoption trial, his new dog mom reached out to say she was ready to make it official and adopt Remi!

Remi’s humans love to hike, rock climb, and spend time in nature, so Remi gets to stay active while enjoying the great outdoors, and he loves being along for the adventure! In addition to outdoor activities, Remi enjoys learning new tricks, and has mastered lots of them with the help of his dog mom!

In 2022, Remi and his family moved to Chicago, Illinois, where, at first, this California native wasn’t so sure about the new location—what was up with all that cold, white stuff on the ground? Now that he’s adjusted to the colder winters and has some cute doggy sweaters and boots to keep him warm in the snow, he’s doing great! He enjoys lots of couch snuggles with his parents, and he loves carrying his humans’ mail and packages home from the post office whenever he gets the chance—what a helpful pup!

No matter where life takes him, we know Remi is in great hands with his loving family, and we can’t wait to follow along as they embark on new adventures and continue living life to the fullest!
