Abby joined the SDF team as a Canine Care Specialist in April 2021, to pursue her passion of working with USAR dogs. Now a Canine Trainer, her job is to help train all program dogs in obedience, agility, direction control, and live-find search. She ensures that each dog can complete basic skills requirements and works with handlers to prepare them to take home their new partners. Before joining SDF, Abby interned at the University of Pennsylvania, Penn Vet Working Dog Center where she learned what goes into training working dogs while also training dogs in USAR and scent detection. After that, she worked as a pet dog trainer teaching clients basic and advanced obedience in both group and private settings. As a Canine Trainer, Abby enjoys helping the dogs progress in their skills and watching them go on to become life-saving heroes.
