Search Teams Brian Girard & Keila and Greg Gould & Dax were searching along the riverfront in Waterford, NY for a missing 14-year-old autistic boy. Anthony Blaauboer was last seen in the afternoon on August 8 and was reported missing a few hours later, when he did not return home as expected.
Greg & Dax and Brian & Keila were working closely with local authorities to comb the space along the river, while rescuers in boats and planes cover the water and outlying areas. Greg reported that it was rough terrain and the weather was extremely hot and humid.
The handlers made sure the dogs got plenty of water and took breaks as needed while they looked for Anthony.
Sadly, after searching much of the day today, Anthony was found deceased in the water within the search area. While this search ended tragically, our Search Teams were glad to provide meaningful assistance and be part of the search in a dedicated community. Our hearts go out to his family as well as the many rescuers who worked tirelessly in hopes that he would be found alive.
